Altman A-D1 1937 Model Mahogany New - Another example of pure pre-war tone and sound and is the closest we have encountered. It is hard to imagine that this is a new guitar with all the ancient “vibes” that you hear and feel. One chord tells the story as it just vibrates in your hands and against your body. The features are: Built to 1936-1938 specifications entirely by hand, Adirondack Spruce top, Adirondack braces, no tongue brace, 1 ¾’’ nut width, 2 5/16’’ string spacing, Ebony traditional bridge and fingerboard, Tortoise style binding, solid Ebony bridge pins, Honduran Mahogany back, sides and neck, thru saddle, Tortoise grain pickguard, traditional style rosette, dot inlay, “Relic” Waverly “Butterbean” tuners, “antiqued” top aging toner, 2 5/16’’ string spacing and varnish finish. The neck profile is very close to a “vintage now” style and the overall appearance of this instrument takes on a slight distressed look. Light as a feather but complete dry & woody sounding in tone, separation, power, clarity, headroom and playability. Anyone who has played and owned a pre-war will instantly recognize what this instrument is all about. Priced with deluxe hard case. Call or email for pricing and availability. Product ID:850
Collings D2G Custom New - Creamy tight grain German Spruce top, Rope top binding, Adirondack braces, no tongue brace, 1 ¾’’ nut width and thru saddle. For those who want something a little different, the Rope top binding is a nice change that is quite tasteful, but the sound of this beauty is what really grabs you. Big robust delivery with dynamic bass response, strong “punchy” midrange and clear clean high end. Overall, it responds instantly and is not bashful in the performance department plus is full of that Collings tone. Priced with deluxe hard case. Product ID:851
